Situation: A bad storm had made one of the ravine walls weak, and caused damage to the warrior's den, nursery and small parts of the elder's den entrance and apprentice's den.

Storms were common at all times of the year for the forest, however the severity that swept through the forest was usually saved for leaf-bare. It caught many by surprise, sweeping in over the course of the day and reaching it's highest point overnight. The winds blew hard, blowing loose undergrowth and branches into ThunderClan's ravine, with the direction of it leading rain to pound against one of the ravine walls.

While no one was hurt, and the dens held up over the course of the storm, now that morning has broken and the clouds are breaking up, there is more damage than originally thought. The warriors den and empty nursery took the hardest of the beatings, the bramble bush of the nursery damaged by a blown branch and leaving large holes in the old bush. The warrior's den, while providing shelter, has since proved in need of repair as well, water welling up inside and the bush battered, leaving branches tangled and falling loose.

The branches of the elder's den have mostly survived, however the roof is in clear need of patching, while the ferns of the apprentice's den appear in need of straightening. Perhaps the biggest issue is that the ravine wall behind some of the dens appears to be crumbling a little. Not enough to cause a landslide immediately, but enough to have cats on alert in case rocks fall from the top.

It's not a world-ending task, however it's certainly going to put a dampener on ThunderClan's routine for the day.

"Well, would you look at that." In the bleary haze of early morning, as ThunderClan emerged from the warm comforts of their dens and into the molten halo of sunlight, all bore witness to last night's destruction. Certainly, it could've been far worse. There were no fatalities, and their Camp - though now ragged - had endured. Rowanstar swallowed a heavy sigh, amber eyes absorbing the limp ferns of the apprentice's den and the crumbling of the ravine's wall. Certainly, it was time for some work. With a swift dip of her head, the leader resolved that today ought to be as good a time as any.

"Okay, ThunderClan, enough moping around. There's jobs to be done." Strong pawsteps carried her to the very midst of Camp, her paws treading a fine path along the dew sweetened grass. The storm had left a trail of destruction in its wake, the battering of its lashing gales and screaming rain having kept the fae up almost all night. "The Warrior's Den could use some sprucing up. Any volunteers? Anybody? Somebody? Nobody...? Just me? Why am I not surprised?" Lack of sleep had dealt her a sharpened edge this morning, as proven by the hard mask shadowing her countenance, and the beginnings of a sour scowl wrought upon her lips.

Firefalcon- ThunderClan Deputy

Firefalcon’s eyes turned towards the sky almost in an annoyed fashion. She adored the rain – she did, but she couldn’t begin to enjoy last night’s rain when she was stuck in the thick of it. Her paws found solid footing in the wet ground as she checked over Bluefeather- despite the cat’s laughing nature. She thought it was some fun party and her optimism made the blue she-cat’s whiskers twitch in slight annoyance. However, currently, the deputy was sitting outside the Elder’s den and she was concerned on how to patch up everything. Her claws dug into the ground slightly as she put together plans in her head, discarding the ones that were not needed. To her, the elder’s den was the highest priority.

She was selfish- she was sure, wanting to take care of Bluefeather- but she was going to be selfish and made sure her grandmother was okay. Her ears twitched and Firefalcon’s head turned to see Rowanstar. She twitched slightly, her tail freezing for only a split second as she heard the cat speak to herself. Raising to her paws once more, she padded closer but slowly as not to push too far into the other cat’s space. “Rowanstar.” She murmured. “The rains have destroyed and damaged most if not all the dens. Should we split up or focus on one at a time?” It was a rather blunt question but considering Firefalcon’s nature she just wanted to know what she was supposed to do.

Hopefully she could work on the elder’s den…alone. She really didn’t want to fraternize when she had work to do.

All Sootnose could say was that he was relieved the storm was over. Guard duty was never fun in the rain, but with the wind and the rain all coming down at once? All the guards had taken shelter in the bramble around the top of the tunnel. It was voices, and the appearance of a fresh guard, that had Sootnose untangling himself from the brambles, and slowly making his way down through the tunnel and into the clearing. Sure enough, the storm did more than enough damage to everything. The tom wrinkled his nose, before letting out a long sigh.

His gaze swept the dens, studying each in turn, before he finally turned his gaze back to Rowanstar’s stalking form, and Firefalon’s nearby blue pelt as the two high ranks converged. A yawn escaped the warrior’s jaws as he moved forward, catching only the end of Firefalon’s question. “Here and ready for orders, whatever the case,” he meowed, sitting himself down at Rowanstar’s side, and glancing back toward the apprentice’s den for a moment. Maybe he should have checked on Whitepaw before committing to duties. However, more cats were emerging by the moment, so no doubt she’d surface soon enough.

“No one’s been hurt, have they?” He questioned after a heartbeat for further consideration. He couldn’t see Stormfrost moving about, so the assumption had to be that wasn’t the case. Giving another yawn, his ears drooping slightly and tail lazily wrapping around his paws, Sootnose’s attention drifted back to Rowanstar.

A yawn escaped the young warriors jaws as he stretched his limbs within the warriors den. He'd gotten up only to find a chill running through his spine. The resent rain and storm had caused a mild cool down and the drafts told him one thing.... that the storm had torn through their dens. A bit of worry chalked up in the tom as he got up and crawled out of the den entrance. Shaking free any small twigs that had attached themselves to him. Luckily enough he hadn't been hurt but so far it looked at if the whole of Thunderclan was okay. Just moping over the fact that they would have to spend some extra time fixing their poor dens. He overheard a bit of Rowanstar - he agreed slightly. Many cats would want to go out hunting rather than stay to repair to den. Spotting Firefalcon with her along with Sootnose the warrior figured it was time for him to get to work as well.

"I can help with the nursery and warriors den." Kestrelwing would say in a monotoned voice. He'd wait to see who would be helping him. Cats were waiting on orders and he was waiting to be released or maybe reassigned. He just knew the warriors den a lot more than he knew the other dens. The way it worked and how he could reinforce them. Either way the cat as usual was standing by waiting to be told what to do. A blank expression on his face was a normal day to day thing.

despite the storm that raged through the forest that night, stormfrost has slept very well. refreshed, and in an unusually good mood, the tom took a little extra time getting out of his nest. until he heard the voice of his leader. it wasn't unheard of to be summoned at the break of dawn, but it was uncommon. concern boiled up in his stomach, and he made his way out of the den with haste.

he should've stayed in his nest.

the camp was a flurry of activity, and looking at rowanstar's face stormfrost had an inkling that it was going to be a very long day. with the savagery of the storm the night priot, the medicine cat was kind of surprised, and more than a little relieved that his den had been spared in it's entirety. if it hadn't, he defninitely would've known. it was one of the bonus' to sleeping facing the entrance. he figured he should assist rowanstar and firefalcon, but part of him wanted to go around and check to make sure everyone was okay. the thought was dismissed just as quickly as it arose. if there had been any injuries, surely he would've been alerted right away. releasing a heavy sigh, he slunk towards the group of cats that had gathered.

"i'm assuming no one was injured as a result of the storm?" he looked from each cat, studying them for a moment before passing on. the only concerns would be the elders; no doubt the dampness would have them raising hell in regards to stiff joints but luckily, stormfrost was stocked on the herbs best suited for that. "i will offer my assistance, until i am needed elsewhere."

It was Firefalcon whom approached first - her dependable, if standoffish, deputy. The soft lyric of her voice touched upon Rowanstar's ears, and the ThunderClan fae dipped her head in a respectful acknowledgement. Right - work to be done. Tearing her gaze away from Firefalcon, she snagged the approaching solid form of Sootnose in her view. "Ah, good then. Two is better than none. Let's see...the Ravine might be the best place to start. It's not too bad, but one can never be without solid defenses. The sooner we patch it up, the better."

Kestrelwing was next. Rowanstar nodded, flicking an ear back in contemplation as she took in the young warrior. Dark tabby fur flashed in her peripheral, a sickly sweet scent alerting her to the arrival of the medicine cat. "I'm assuming no one was injured as a result of the storm?" came his meow. It was a relief for Rowanstar to concede with a small nod. "Just a bruised Camp. Nothing we can't all fix in a day or so."

The group was small, but no doubt as the day drawled on its numbers would increase. For now, it was enough. Pulling herself up into a firm stance, Rowanstar allowed her amber gaze to touch upon each and every cat gathered in their circle, the beginnings of a proud purr building up from her maw. "Right! I want no cat slacking about. We all work together, and it'll be done before sun down. I want ThunderClan to be in tip top shape again, so let's work on one at a time. It might be slower, but that way our finished product will be more refined." She dipped her head in the direction of the sloping ravine. "Let's get to it then. The sooner we start, the better."

Firefalcon dipped her head back in return to Rowanstar’s greeting. It was perfectly respectable and an easy motion to imitate. It was simple enough as is to play that role…but reconstructing a camp? When she selfishly wanted to just make sure Bluefeather was okay? She probably shouldn’t show or say such things out loud. Hazel eyes moved over to Sootnose, Kestrelwing, and Stormfrost. The medicine cat’s addition wouldn’t be of much use from what she could tell. No one was injured, so he could help with the efforts if he deigned himself to do so. She hoped, considering how small the numbers were in ThunderClan. It was hard enough maintaining the camp...repairing it wasn’t going to be easy.

She didn’t want to work with any other cat but she dipped her head in respect to Rowanstar’s decision. “The ravine it is.” She murmured in assent, her eyes flicking in that direction. What she was supposed to do was a bit beyond her. She supposed that she was going pushing back rocks into place. She supposed if they were light enough it would be easy. “The foundation rocks will be the hardest to put into place…we’ll need more than one cat pushing on them.” She said briefly as she moved onto her paws, her blue fur shimmering slightly as she passed from her place to near the ravine. Her paws itched to be finished with it.

Firefalcon briefly walked to survey the damage- hoping to see the hardest places to fix first and the easiest to fix last. Though, she had never worked on the ravine before even in her age. She hoped Rowanstar and Sootnose would be able to guide her.

Sootnose gave a dip of his head in acknowledgement to the leader’s words, his head twisting over toward the ravine wall. Sure enough, rocks seemed to have slipped loose, and the whole thing looked unstable. It was a danger in itself. The warrior gave a small, thoughtful bob of his head, more for his own sake than anyone else’s as Kestrelwing and Stormfrost appeared. It seemed like the clan were on the move.

“Right! I want no cat slacking about. We all work together, and it'll be done before sun down.” Likely for the best. Sootnose let out a wide yawn, before nodding his head again as Rowanstar finished her speech, and Firefalcon spoke up in turn. “The foundation rocks will be the hardest to put into place…we’ll need more than one cat pushing on them.” Sootnose slowly climbed back onto his feet with a low grunt, before turning and moving after the blue-pelted deputy with lumbering steps.

His gaze swept up along the ravine wall, studying it carefully. The brambles on top looks a little weak, but, they would likely hold. It seemed it need more reinforcement over anything else. Moving up past Firefalcon, Sootnose lifted himself up, and rested his front paws onto one of the nearby rocks. It wouldn’t be the first time the camp had been in need of repair, though the wall itself was beyond his knowledge. For a moment he considered his words, before looking back to the deputy.

“Should we start with these rocks first, then?” He asked, pulling himself back down, and taking a step back from a moment, before moving back onto position, and bracing his shoulder against it. He looked back to Kestrelwing and Stormfrost, before back to Firefalcon for permission.

though there were a few cats gathered, the only one that stormfrost felt comfortable with answering his question was rowanstar. though the leader may be a bit too harsh for his liking, he respected her. there were certain qualities about the she-cat that demanded respect, qualities that couldn't be ignored. he would never think her a bad leader.

as rowanstar continued to speak, a rallying call to her warriors that had gathered, the medicine cat's eyes locked onto the damage the ravine took, and was about to say something when firefalcon raised her voice. stormfrost flicked his whiskers, but did not respond, knowing that there was no real reason to speak. firefalcon was right, of course, the small blue she had a knack for catching things that others may miss. the large grey tom watched as the small she-cat strode over to look at the ravine, the tip of his tail flicking every so often. she was young, but a wise choice on rowanstar's behalf. though he definitely wasn't one to judge based on age; he was younger than firefalcon for starclan's sake.

his attention was pulled by the black and white tom, his ears twitching as he put his paws onto the rock. the day had started out without injuries, but he had a nasty feeling that it would end with some. striding over to where the tom had let himself down, stormfrost paced in front of the rock for a moment, and put his shoulder to the stone as sootnose had done, and looked at firefalcon and rowanstar as well.

The Pecking Order is a sandbox style role-play that allows you to explore the delicate balance of life and death throught the eyes of Warriors. This is a dog-eat-dog world and only the fittest are able to survive. In the wild, there is no saving grace, no mercy, or saviors - only survival. Find your place among the hierarchy, or die trying. You must do whatever it takes to ensure the survival of a clan, and try not to get trampled along the way. You are either predator or prey, so find your place in the spectrum.

The Pecking Order is centered in the original forest setting, in an alternate universe based on the Warriors novels by Erin Hunter. Find your soul in the gentle queen, or the brave leader, or the fierce warrior. TPO has a word minimum of 200 per post, but welcomes roleplayers of all types.

GREENLEAF - As the forest approaches the end of greenleaf, the heat seems to only be increasing. Prey runs well across all clans, plentiful even in the increasing hot weather. While there have been thunderstorms, for the past moon the storms have been fewer in number, creating a relatively dry heat across all clans.
