despite the nip in the air that brought with it the promise of what the two-legs called 'winter', the former kitty-pet was content. well, as content as one could be out in the elements after living in a warm home for the majority of his life. he wasn't completely used to the rain and the snow was an alien concept, but he knew that it existed. he had witnessed it through the window, but hadn't realized that it could be cold just like the weather that bore it. O'Malley wasn't going to complain though, it was better than being stuck with two-legs that didn't want him.
what he was going to complain about was the moisture soaking up through his toes and drenching his paws. his face was the embodiment of disgust, and as he walked, he brought one paw up high to inspect it before dropping it down and drawing up the other one. how in the world anyone lived in this area was beyond him. that is, if anyone lived around here. he had heard rumours of cats that lived in things called 'clans' but that too, was an alien concept. why would anyone want to live with a group of other cats? most of the other felines he had met on just over a moon of loner-hood were rude, and aggressive. to the young tom, that did not sound pleasant at all.
there were scents though, smells that he hadn't noticed before, and he felt the fur along his neck and spine erect in response. if indeed there were cats in this area, were they nice? would they offer to help him catch something to eat? apparently, that's what cats did when they didn't live with two-legs. it was news to O'Malley the first time he heard it, and for the most part, except when he got lucky, prey eluded him. he hadn't never been this hungry before in his life, and he was fairly certain that he was going to starve to death. it wasn't a very pleasant thought.
letting out a very heavy sigh, the tom sat down where he was, momentarily forgetting that the ground was wet. as soon as his haunches touched the cold, he sprang up and yowled in shock.
"oh come on!" glaring at his now wet backside, the white and orange tom attempted to clean his pelt. "why does this always happen to me?"
