Slatepaw's biggest flaw in personality is one that he views as making him insignificant and unworthy. He is rather insecure and his faith in his abilities both physical and mental are low, however this is not the cause of his lack of speech.

Slatepaw hardly communicates with others, and has a strong fear of being called out or tasks of himself. It is a type of anxiety he never had when he was a small kit but developed as he got older and began to doubt in himself and the others around him whom all seemed much better in his small head. As he aged into apprenticehood this fear got worse and he stayed as far away from the other apprentices as he could.

Slatepaw does do his very best in everything his does and often does not see his own capability. Beneath the mask he hides beneath for others, he has a very strong sense of justice and honesty, though it is not a side his Clanmates often see. It certainly possible to gain his trust however, and if you can, he will do his utmost to deserve them to the very end.

Motivation is the one thing he has lacked all his life and as a kit he quickly closed himself off to others, mainly out of a fear of being a disappointment. Closed-minded and quick to give up, he only lacks support from loved ones, the one thing he needs and fails to see.

Slatekit was never the most popular kitten in the nursery. From his first interactions with the bigger kits he was pushed away and giggled at. It didn't bother him much at first but his persistence eventually wore off. Slatekit was finally noticed, except this time he was a laughingstock in every aspect he could possibly think of.

Slatekit grew more reserved and began to hide from the others as he grew older, almost anyone, not just the bigger kits. He kept these traits as he grew into an apprentice, always staying away from others and fearing being worthless.
