There would always be something that fascinated Mintnose about the gorge. It seemed so unnatural, cutting through the earth like a claw mark in the dirt. Steep, sudden cliffs dropped down into the raging, lashing waters of the river below, churning and tearing its way downstream, before slowly reaching level ground in the small falls and the twoleg bridge. It was a mystery how such a carven existed, separating two clans so distinctly like a mark of StarClan. Hovering near the edge of the rocks, the large grey tom’s form steady even within the blistering wind, he had to say it was almost a frightening mystery.
No matter, he supposed. The land they had was made that way for a reason, and anything that made the likeliness of hostile clashes less worked all the more from him. Mintnose stepped back, and turned. Pondering on the gorge was far from the only thought crossing his mind as the medicine cat made his way across the territory, scanning the rocks and grass tufts for any signs of remaining goldenrod that had survived into the season. With leaf-fall getting all the closer, he wasn’t willing to take risks of being any lower in supply than he already was, after all. However, the trek also gave him plenty of time to let his mind wander, to focus on the territory and space around him.
How many cats from other clans took the time to think on such things and thank StarClan for all they had?
Mintnose gave a small shake of his head, and moved on, following the gorge upstream and away from fourtrees. The last thing he was all that interested in was running into wandering warriors from other clans after all. No, if anything, he was happy alone. Enjoying the company of the wind. Even if, as he spotted a large clump of the herb up ahead, he could have used a few more paws. The tom wrinkled his nose, and pressed on, approaching the flowers with ears pricked and a bounce to his paws. Reaching down, it only took a few moments to plunk free what he needed, and bundle it together before straightening again.
It was a rustle that caught the tom’s attention there. Whether it was in his own territory or across the chasm, he wasn’t sure, but it had Mintnose glancing around, green gaze scanning the grass stretching out around him.( somewhat bleh post, but, open to anyone! )
