Nightmares, that made it so hard for him to get to sleep. As such in the middle of the night when the apprentice should have been resting he was restlessly moving about among the bodies of the others. Some who had gone with their mentors were about of course, but he could see his brother and sister among the bodies. Obviously their mentors had let them go for the night.... just seeing his brother though made him sigh. Carefully the tom stepped over the bodies and made his way through the entrance out to the middle of the camp. Perhaps he could better occupy his time with something else. All the elders would be asleep and he wasn't allowed outside the territory without his mentor for the moment so his ear flicked as he groaned mildly.

If only a warrior could take him out, he'd make it worth their time. Anything to get his head on straight, but for now he would have to deal with stretching his limbs out. Then met with the grumble of his stomach, Frostpaw was met with the decision to weigh if he was allowed to grab a piece of fresh kill. It would be fine as long as he could replace it later right? He couldn't remember the last time he ate anyway with his anxieties bothering him. So the young boy would make his way and pull out a rather small mouse - making sure it wasn't any of the good amount of fresh kill left in that pile. Moving back near the apprentice den, he sat outside of it and started to chow down on the mouse to satisfy his hunger.

As expected at that time of night, Sandfur lay asleep in her nest. Or at least, the light ginger female knew she should be asleep but however it seemed that was not the case as otherwise she wouldn't be sitting up and looking around the den as she was doing. The thing was, she could hear a rustling noise coming from out of the warriors den, a noise which could potentially be the sign of danger. Who knew if out there was a fox? If someone got hurt and she had done nothing about it then she would never forgive herself. So she got up to her paws and stepped around all those sleeping around her, concerned that she may step on their tails and wake them up. Thankfully this didn't happen and she got outside without causing any trouble. Looking around, the female tried to see where the source of the rustling had come from. Her eyes came across the frame of a smaller cat than she and instantly Sandfur relaxed. She wondered whether it was best to go back to resting or see why he was up - maybe there was something wrong. After thinking about it, Sandfur made the decision to go and speak to him, quietly making her way over.

Once at his side the scent of mouse washed over her and she glanced down to notice that the apprentice, who she now knew to be Frostpaw, was eating. "It's a bit late to be eating isn't it?" she asked him as she sat down beside him. In all honesty, Sandfur didn't know if she should be scolding him for not being in his nest like he should have been, although that would definitely make her a hypocrite. Due to this, she decided it was best to say nothing about it at all. "Is everything okay for you? Nothing happened to keep you awake? You don't have to tell me, I just got worried because I heard a noise and my first instinct was that it was one of those mouse-brained foxes thinking it could come and have a meal out of one of our kits. Thank StarClan it isn't."

Frostpaw wasn't usually a social cat to begin with and the subject of a fox irritated him. It scared him slightly, a fox had torn his world upside down - though he knew the warrior meant nothing by it. The young tom would let his ear flick, instantly putting up his wall again and reserving himself. He was nervously protecting his emotions from attack. She asked about his meal and he looked at his half eaten mouse. "I thought I'd take it since I'll be up for a while and I can't remember the last time I ate. I'll be sure to replace what I ate though. I'm just not allowed outside the territory unless Oakclaw is with me." Frostpaw wasn't even sure how his mentor felt about him at the moment. Seeing as Oakclaw was the deputy and all. Frostpaw was a problem child to most other cats if he was anything to them at all.

Sandfur had asked if anything kept him awake. His fur bristled at the name of a fox as well, he calmed himself. There was no fox it was an every day threat they all had to deal with. "Everythings fine, I just couldn't sleep." he answered quickly and his eyes kept locked onto the mouse in front of him. Maybe if he wished hard enough Sandfur would go away. He wasn't trying to be rude it was simply his anti social nature sprouting up again. He was only recently appointed an apprentice and already within his eighth moon. Not only embarrassing - he caused his brother to have a permanent handicap. So there were reasons he didn't usually openly speak with others. However he was a gentleman and she was a she-cat.

"Was the sound of a fox really bothering you? Is that why you're up Sandfur?" Frostpaw tilted his head and looked at her. Hoping that she wasn't having any troubles. He knew he had his own problems, but depression sucked even more. He would hate for another clan member to be having issue's and he wasn't able to help with that. What sort of warrior to be would that make him in the first place.

At his response to her enquiring about his late night meal, she shook her head, realising that it may sound like she was scolding him for it when in reality it had absolutely nothing to do with her and it wasn't her place to tell him off anyway. She didn't like giving out punishments anyway and she certainly wasn't going to snitch on him. "Oh, I wasn't trying to tell you off or anything, I'm fine with you having it and I don't think it will hurt anyone at this time of night anyway. I think the others would much prefer you be eating then going around making a load of noise. Again, not saying that you would do that anyway. I'm just stating a fact."

Glad that the possible chance of a fox being in their territory was now proved to be wrong by the apprentice, a slight smile came across her lips. It wasn't one of the smiles that were usually out of happiness, instead it was out of relief as it meant that nobody would be getting hurt which was always a good thing. Foxes were dangerous creatures, pure and simple. If you got on the wrong side of them then they could definitely inflict some serious damage on you, injuries which Sandfur would much rather stay clear of. She would hate to have to lay off of her duties for a short while as she couldn't think of anything worse than sitting in the medicine cat den all day, watching as everybody else went out hunting and patrolling their borders. Even thinking about it made her feel frustrated and she knew she would be unbearable to everyone else if it was to actually happen. They'd all be sick of her complaining that she was stuck inside and all be asking for poppy seeds due to a raging headache that she had given them.

"Are you sure that there isn't a particular reason you're okay? I know you literally just said everything is fine but I'm just checking. You don't have a stomach ache or anything?" Sandfur wouldn't like to see her clanmates feeling ill at all and she thought it would be good advice if he did truly feel unwell. Some cats she knew did not like to go to the medicine cats as they felt they were pestering and maybe Frostpaw was one of them.

When he enquired whether or not it truly was a fox that had her awake, she looked at him and wondered if he expected for something to be wrong with her like she was worried for him. She realised that she hadn't responded and quickly shook her head. "Nah, I'm fine. I just wasn't asleep, it gets quite warm in the warriors den and the snoring from the others was keeping me awake. Then I heard a rustling sound and I came outside. So there's nothing wrong, I promise," she told him, not wanting for the apprentice to be worried about her when there was nothing for him to be worried about.

aspenstar has recieved her nine lives and named asterfang as windclan's new deputy. the patrol that morningstar had initially sent out to track the scent of dog was able to come up with nothing, and no scent has been picked up since the change of leadership.

oakclaw, now oakstar, has also recieved his leader name from starclan. he has appointed blizzardfang as riverclan's new deputy. riverclan remains diligant about maintaining their strength on sunningrocks - so far, thunderclan has not tried to contest. a recent storm also rolled through, flooding the camp and leaving it in disarray for the time being.

thunderclan has also been impacked by the storm, leaving the ravine walls weak and causing damage to many areas of the camp. the clan works to rebuild while also dealing with increase two-leg encounters and lower-than-usual rates of prey.

shadowclan has been rather well off: prey is abundant and while the storm did cause their fresh kill pile to sour over night, they face few threats moving into the next moon.

The Pecking Order is a sandbox style role-play that allows you to explore the delicate balance of life and death throught the eyes of Warriors. This is a dog-eat-dog world and only the fittest are able to survive. In the wild, there is no saving grace, no mercy, or saviors - only survival. Find your place among the hierarchy, or die trying. You must do whatever it takes to ensure the survival of a clan, and try not to get trampled along the way. You are either predator or prey, so find your place in the spectrum.

The Pecking Order is centered in the original forest setting, in an alternate universe based on the Warriors novels by Erin Hunter. Find your soul in the gentle queen, or the brave leader, or the fierce warrior. TPO has a word minimum of 200 per post, but welcomes roleplayers of all types.

GREENLEAF - As the forest approaches the end of greenleaf, the heat seems to only be increasing. Prey runs well across all clans, plentiful even in the increasing hot weather. While there have been thunderstorms, for the past moon the storms have been fewer in number, creating a relatively dry heat across all clans.
