The dog was nothing to the ShadowClan patrol who found it. With predators seeming to be everywhere as the season comes to an end, it was just another creature to chase out at fear of causing harm. ShadowClan have never really cared whose territory the creature runs into next, especially not while Darkstar has been in charge. So, they chased the creature off with clans and spitting, and watched it run off into the distances past carionplace.
For Morningstar and WindClan, however, it turned into their next threat. The patrol scented the dog and reported it back, especially given it started to smell like there were multiple. The order came from the leader to find them, and check they weren’t in danger. With Cedarthorn at the lead, the group did just that, however, they couldn’t find the creature, and the scents proved to be stale. They pushed further still, and placed markings further than usual to mark how far they’d gone in their search.
They weren’t expecting Darkstar to point out the scents or ShadowClan to be so defensive about it. Morningstar rolled their eyes, however without any evidence or even confirmation that the dogs had been anything more than passing through, the intention of the markings was kept private. Morningstar was never the type of cat to share information that others might have shouted down, and in turn, they kept the dog scent to themselves.
ShadowClan aren’t sure what the moor-dwelling clan are up to, however they are on alert, and while the hunt for the dogs has died with Cedarthorn’s retirement, Morningstar’s death and no results, it is barely the first mark of a bigger, more serious threat.
This is the background of the plot as it currently stands. Going forward, there is a pack of dogs who are part feral, part abandoned living up in highstones and around mothermouth. While they’ve caused no issues currently, as leaf-fall and leaf-bare begin to settle in, the cold will drive them lower, and with ShadowClan and WindClan slightly better off for prey, and with carionplace so close, it proves a prime territory for the dogs to move into. How it goes from here it up in the air. However, the dog pack will certainly become a ShadowClan issue, and we’d like it to continue to be a WindClan issue as well.
So, how things go, the effect of the dogs, whether that makes the clans work together or drives a further wedge of blame between them, we’d like to know how you’d like to see the plot continue! ShadowClan is currently on high alert with WindClan, and it’s likely any excuse will be written off and accusations thrown, so there’s plenty of room for tension and conflict above all else. Along with threats at the most dangerous season.
There’s plenty of room for flexibility, all we know for sure is this will be a purely Wind/Shadow plot, not involving the other clans, as the pack isn’t big enough for that. So, what are your thoughts! What do you want to see happen?
