Oakstar hoisted himself onto the lowest-hanging branch of the barren tree, levelling his weight distribution and then casting an expectant look towards the expanse of space that would soon be occupied by his clanmates. It was gong to be his first time addressing the clan as leader, but Hazelstar's absence didn't weigh as heavily in his mind as it used to. Frankly, it almost felt like she'd ceased to exist at all, but Oakstar knew it would be unlikely for the rest of his clanmates to see as he did on the matter. It was perhaps disrespectful of the memory of someone who'd otherwise been a good leader to them, but he viewed her actions as abandonment, plain and simple, and it mattered not that she did what she did for her own daughter. RiverClan was also her blood, but she'd already made her choice, and it was no longer Oakstar's problem.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the barren tree for a clan meeting." The words felt like they belonged on his tongue, and he straightened his spinal chord, pride surging through his veins as cats began to appear in front of him. On the surface, however, he merely looked critical, as if he was sizing each and every one of them up and making sure they met his standards for a RiverClan cat. There was no doubt in his mind, and likely all of theirs, too, that RiverClan was going to have some changes implemented under his reign. He kept his expression neutral as the cat he sought to name his deputy joined the rest of the crowd. He was happy with his choice, but that hardly meant it wasn't subject to change if he saw something he didn't like in the moments leading up to the announcement.
Notes: I'm utilizing liquid time to announce RiverClan's deputy since his ceremony isn't quite finished.
