Firefalcon’s eyes narrowed slightly at the movement, before blinking several times at the familiar face. Adderpaw? Why was she out here alone? Was her mentor somewhere near by? Her thoughts got distracted by the cat’s sheepish smile and she blinked several times. Well she wasn’t paying attention well enough. Not that she was exactly worried about being tracked on her own territory. Shaking her head a little, she sat down. “It’s fine.” She assured without bite, falling into her bland tone. “Pushing yourself forward by yourself shows a good warrior in training. Good job.” She wasn’t at all irritated at the cat’s omission, quite fine once the matter was explained. Firefalcon snorted slightly at her next question, bitter bile dancing on her tongue as she wished she could say half the things she wanted.

“It’s all over Sunningrocks. It’s a show of aggression. Even if we’re far away from the markers, the incessant renewing of them makes it even over here. I find it rather laughable that they think we apparently can’t smell or know our own borders.” She looked towards the direction before she shrugged. “It’s completely useless. It’s just a patch of territory.” The deputy said bluntly. She paused, however, looking back to the apprentice. “Do you feel you’re making headway in your training? I know Rowanstar is busy, if I can help her apprentice as well, I will.”

Firefalcon was not known for her tact or ease of conversation, she said this as pure fact and as if the apprentice could give her a suitable answer. Either way, she was not one to take offense if Adderpaw wasn’t able to give her an answer – just would move on and shrug. She could have the cat do some basic training she was sure. Probably marking borders or hunting. If she was trying to work on tracking than more than likely hunting was where she felt like she needed more work.

Firefalcon was not really aware of Adderpaw’s circumstances of birth, but even if she did know, it wouldn’t even bring a blink to her face. “Whether or not the default, cats are filled with greed in power symbols. Sunningrocks tends to be such a thing. I don’t really care nor want to deal with them but I’m sure Rowanstar will lead us to either victory or terse peace. Which one, I cannot forsee.” Her hazel eyes blinked lazily – as if she was discussing the weather. Her words were not chosen in ways for tact, just simply to get the point across in as little words as possible most of the time. Plus, she saw no reason to cloud it in some ridiculous jargon that even a kit couldn’t understand. Being front-forward was most beneficial in communicating in her opinion.

“That is a very mature opinion though considering some of your other apprentices at your level.” Whitepaw came to mind but she gave a small tilt of her head. “Bloodshed doesn’t ever outweigh the lives one holds in their paws.” Firefalcon didn’t move nor even seem to acknowledge any difference in the cat’s proximity to her.

“I understand.” Firefalcon said shortly, giving a small blink. She had no idea what Adderpaw was proficient in. Tracking would probably be out. “While I’m not your mentor, I can train you at least to a point. Rowanstar, however, should be your final say in what a warrior would need. What are you proficient in? You are practicing tracking, but do you excel in fighting, hunting, or something else?” Her tail tip absently dusted the ground exactly three times in identical motions as she thought. She highly doubted overseeing training for any apprentice was overstepping her bounds, especially since Rowanstar was quite busy.

Being light on her feet was her strength? Firefalcon was briefly stumped. No pride in other areas that warriors normally boast about? She wasn’t exactly surprised but it was hard to formulate a plan based on that. Being light on one’s paws was good for many things – but even if she was fast – would her paws and body hold out at that speed? If she was light on her fight, was she light in natural weight, leaving her at a disadvantage with fighting? Firefalcon’s ear twitched as she gave a soft hum.

“Curious answer.” She said blankly, her eyes focusing on Adderpaw briefly before standing up and walking, gesturing with her tail for Adderpaw to follow. “Let’s first get away from RiverClan’s dirt-pile before it bothers my nose anymore. I’ll rephrase my question though,” Firefalcon kept her eyes in front of her as she traversed the path. “What do you want to be good at? What do you feel like you’ve learned? I’m not your mentor so I have to have some idea if I wish to help you.” That was straightforward enough she was sure.

“When I was an apprentice, I had skills in climbing trees and diving down on birds and prey from above.” Of course, she also had skills in dealing with sociopaths who wanted to hurt kittypet born cats but that was beside the point. “When you run, do you keep enough stamina? When you hunt, do you move faster than the prey? If you’re light, do you have a disadvantage with larger apprentices? What do you think your weaknesses are?”
